Group46 of Bluffton was honored with an award at the Vocational Rehabilitation Open House Luncheon Oct. 11 in Beaufort.

Group46 president Ryan Lockhart won Employer of the Year for his advocacy and partnership with the agency. Group46 had opened a position for a Vocational Rehabilitation client over the course of 120 days, facilitating training and making a new position available.

The Open House event honored business partners who provided work opportunities for the clients of the Vocational Rehabilitation department. About 20 business partners attended, along with clients and employers from around the area.

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department serves people who are discouraged from working because of a disability.

  • Two designers have joined the staff of J. Banks Design Group.

Lydia Lewis has joined the company as a residential design assistant, and Lindsey Bloor comes on board as a commercial project designer.

In her role, Lewis will assist the design staff in the planning, designing and furnishing of residential properties.

Lewis recently graduated from Ohio State University with a B.S. in interior design and worked for InterContinental Hotels Group as an architecture and design intern prior to joining J. Banks Design.

Bloor holds a B.S. in interior design from Philadelphia University. She previously worked for Meyer Design in Philadelphia, first as an intern during college and ultimately as a senior interior designer, working on corporate offices, tenant fit outs, and owner-developer renovation projects.

As commercial project designer, Bloor will assist in planning, designing and furnishing interiors of commercial properties that are practical, aesthetic and conducive to the intended purpose.

She will work closely with clients and commercial support staff to adhere to architectural preferences, purpose and function of environment to deliver projects that are on time and on budget.

Eric Wammock, USPTA Elite Professional, has been named the new head tennis professional at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort on Hilton Head Island.

Wammock has been in the tennis industry for 33 years. Most recently, he was the owner of Hilton Head Island Tennis, a company that provided tennis programming for HHI Beach and Tennis Resort, helping earn the resort Top 50 status by Tennis Magazine.

As a player, Wammock was a college All-American at Florida State College and later All-Conference at Virginia Commonwealth University, winning the conference doubles title over the 11th ranked team in the country.

Previously, Wammock was the head tennis professional and club manager at Sea Pines Resort. He worked at the resort for 17 years and was part of a staff that earned the tennis club No. 1 status nationally by Tennis Magazine.
