  • The Juice Hive and Health Emporium, a juice bar in Bluffton, has received national recognition for two of its featured items. The Juice Hive's Shiso Leaf Kimchi and Lowcountry Kimchi have both been named finalists in the 2018 Good Food Awards national food competition, which recognizes food producers based on both taste and sustainability criteria.

Both items were top scorers in this year's pool of more than 2,000 entries, and both are finalists in the Pickles category, under the subcategory of Lacto-Fermented products.

Criteria for this category included being free of artificial and-or genetically modified ingredients, as well as made with ingredients that are grown locally, with respect for seasonality and without the use of synthetic inputs, including herbicides, pesticides, fungicides or fertilizers.

The Juice Hive works with Three Sisters Farm, a certified organic farm located along the Colleton River in Beaufort, which provides organic products for the Juice Hive's Kimchi.

The Juice Hive and Health Emporium, which features organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies and serves breakfast and lunch, is located at 14 Johnston Way in Bluffton Village.
