  • A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 10 am. to 3 p.m. Dec. 13 at Golis Family Jewelers, 1008 Fording Island Road, in Kittie's Crossing, Bluffton.

The Red Cross urgently needs blood donors to help reduce a severe blood shortage. There is an especially critical need for Type O positive and Type O negative blood donors.

  • North Island Medical recently opened a new clinic at 157 William Hilton Parkway, near the Spanish Wells Road intersection on the north end of Hilton Head Island.

NIM can handle a variety of urgent care needs, including fractures and sprains, lacerations, coughs and colds, dehydration, abdominal pain, musculoskeletal pain, allergic reactions, and other common urgent care needs.

The clinic can also handle primary care such as physical examinations, school physicals, DOT physicals, diabetes and hypertension management, and a variety of other primary care and family care needs.

Walk-ins and appointments are accepted.

The clinic specializes in both urgent and primary care for the underinsured or uninsured population. NIM also accepts a variety of insurance plans including most Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare and Aetna, with other insurance companies coming on board daily.

A Spanish translator is available during business hours to better assist non-English speaking patients.
