Hinchey's Bar & Grill is Chicago's gift to Bluffton
Just in time for summer, Hinchey's Chicago Bar & Grill in Bluffton is offering an addition to its already expansive menu from 5 to 9 p.m. every Thursday: all-you-can-eat snow crab legs served with hush puppies and French fries, a market-priced special you won't find at the family's long-established Hilton Head Island location.
That said, founder Bob Hinchey's daughter Katie Ketchledge, frequently on hand at the front of the house or behind the bar, expects patrons of the restaurant at Berkeley Place on Buckwalter Parkway to continue making its fried grouper sandwich and Chicago-style chicken wings the popular eatery's best sellers.
The three-page menu is scattered with 14 shamrocks to designate signature items, including the top-selling Fried Grouper Sandwich, $10.95, dipped in a house-made beer batter and served with French fries, coleslaw and a pickle, and those plump wings available in more than a dozen flavors, priced from $8.95 for eight, to $44.95 for 48.
One-half pound of Peel & Eat Shrimp, $12.95, steamed in Old Bay seasoning and served hot or cold, is a popular appetizer along with fish tacos, $6.95, made with grouper, and Irish Potato Skins, loaded with cheddar cheese and bacon, green onions and served with a side of sour cream, $7.95.
Grilled Chicken Caesar salad, $10.75, is a classic Caesar with romaine, garlic croutons and Asiago cheese topped with a grilled chicken breast. For $12.75, you can substitute grilled shrimp or salmon.
At Happy Hour, from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, appetizers are buy one, get one at 50 percent off, along with drink specials.
Early Bird specials are served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. daily and feature Parmesan-Encrusted Grouper served with wild rice and vegetables, lasagna topped with homemade marinara, or a 6-ounce Top Sirloin Steak accompanied by French fries and vegetables for $13.95, which includes choice of soup or salad, bread and a glass of house wine.
The range of dinner entrees served after 4 p.m. and priced from $14.95 to $28.95 includes crab cakes, steaks and chicken, and a half dozen pasta choices, such as Hinchey's signature Penne Pasta Galisteo, $14.95. For $16.95, add chicken or hot or sweet Italian sausage.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for lunch and dinner, and later on weekends, Hinchey's main dining room features spacious booths, tables, and flat-screen TVs. A wall divides it from the adjacent bar, with more TVs and high-top tables lining floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside tables with market umbrellas are popular for watching the movie crowds come and go.
