First reading of business license tax renewals approved

Bluffton Town Council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance to extend the business license tax renewal deadline until Aug. 7.

This ordinance also waives all late fees that would have normally been assessed on renewals due, but not paid, between April 30, 2020, and Aug. 7, 2020.

This ordinance is a part of Bluffton's Small Business Economic Resiliency Plan, adopted by Town Council in April, to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic economic impact to local businesses.

Town Council is scheduled to vote on the second and final reading of this ordinance at its regularly scheduled May 12 meeting at 6 p.m. The meeting may be viewed on the Town of Bluffton's Facebook page.

Public comments may be submitted online at the Town's website, Comments will be accepted up to 2 hours prior to the scheduled meeting start time. All comments will be read aloud for the record and will be provided to Town Council.
