Nonprofits sought to apply for Garden Tour grants

Organizers of the All Saints Garden Tour, scheduled for May 18, 2019, have opened the granting cycle and are seeking nonprofit organizations to apply. All proceeds from the tour are contributed to local charities.

The Garden Tour, which is sponsored and supported by parishioners of All Saints Episcopal Church on Hilton Head Island, funds the church's Community Outreach Mission.

Any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves the community with a focus on hunger, homelessness, literacy and aging, with budget of less than $650,000 may apply for a grant.

The organization's budget is important, as the grantor wants to give to groups where a contribution of $5,000 to $6,000 can make a difference.

Charities receiving grants from the tour in 2018 include Antioch Educational Center, Backpack Buddies of Bluffton and Backpack Buddies of Hilton Head, Hilton Head Safe Harbour, and St. Stephen's UMC Foodbank. Historically, the Garden Tour has given well over $500,000 to nonprofit organizations in the Hilton Head and Bluffton area.

Those interested in grants may go online to allsaintsgardentour.com and select "Grant Application." The completed application form is due Oct. 15.
