Sun on the Street

With this feature, we seek to capture a glimpse of what your neighbors have to say about a variety of topics, issues, events - and just plain fun questions.

You might find us anywhere around Bluffton with a camera and note pad, asking simple questions and looking for thoughtful answers. If we find you, we hope you will want to participate.

At May River Theatre's recent "grand re-opening," and a performance of "Love Letters," we asked: "What's the best thing about community theatre?"

Michael Lemire, Bluffton: "It's the homeyness, the close-knit feeling. And it's just down the street."

Bob McCloskey, Bluffton (director of "Love Letters"): "The involvement of friends and neighbors, especially here - this is Bluffton's very own theatre."

Linda McCloskey, Bluffton: "I love seeing my husband onstage. I also like that the actors are people from all walks of life in the community."

Bill Jacobs, Hilton Head Island: "For me, it's the intimacy you have in a smaller venue, where you can see the actors' facial expressions. And to see people you know and the skills they bring to the stage."

Sonya Jacobs, Hilton Head Island: "Just seeing all the talent in the local area, especially seeing my students onstage. It's fun to watch them grow."
