Bluffton Town Council is seeking qualified applicants for its boards, commissions and committees. These boards, commissions and committees are functionally organized and provide valuable input to Town Council when making decisions or formulating policy.
The most immediate need for new appointees exists on the Accommoda-tions Tax Advisory Committee, with two vacancies, and the Municipal Election Commission, with one vacancy.
Descriptions and requirements for each committee are below.
Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee: This committee advises Town Council on the distribution and expenditure of accommodations tax revenue. This revenue is allocated in the form of grants to non-profits who are hosting events or activities that promote local tourism. Grant applications for funding are due by the last day of each quarter.
There are seven committee members. The committee is currently seeking applicants from the lodging and hospitality industries. These appointments will fill the remaining terms of the vacant positions. The one hospitality position expires June 30, 2020, and the lodging position expires June 30, 2019.
Municipal Election Commission: The three member Municipal Election Commission is required to conduct, supervise and manage municipal, special, and general elections, certify election results, and hear any protests arising from the election per the South Carolina Code of Laws, Section 5-15-90(A). Meetings of the Municipal Election Commission are scheduled as necessary. The current available position expires June 30, 2021.
