Dr. Richard Stewart and Dr. James Swenson
Beaufort Memorial has expanded much-needed access to gastroenterology care in Southern Beaufort County, offering appointments with two of its board-certified gastroenterologists in Bluffton.
Dr. Richard Stewart and Dr. James Swenson, both with Beaufort Memorial Lowcountry Medical Group, will begin seeing patients at the hospital’s Bluffton Medical Services facility in Westbury Park this month.

Prior to that, he had been in private practice for 17 years and spent 11 years on active duty with the U.S. Navy. A graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Swenson completed his internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital and his residency and fellowship training at Bethesda Naval Hospital.
