• A. Thomas Bundy, M.D., FAAD,FACMS of Hilton Head Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center attended the 38th annual meeting of the Florida Society Dermatologic Surgeons, which was held Sept. 27-29 in Orlando, Fla.

This conference provides continuing education for the purpose of ensuring the highest professional quality of dermatologic surgery, a forum for the exchange of ideas and methodology for dermatologic surgery and related basic sciences, and recognizes those physicians who have become proficient in dermatologic surgery.

Stephen Maglione has been named executive director of Mental Health America of Beaufort and Jasper counties (MHABJ), a nonprofit organization serving those with mental illnesses.

Maglione has 35 years of combined work experience in education and human services. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in management from Springfield (Mass.) College, a Master’s of Education in administration from the University of Vermont, and a post-Master’s Certificate from Duke University in nonprofit management.

Maglione began his career as a middle school educator and coach, and has served as an executive director and CEO for five different organizations supporting citizens living with disabilities in four states.

In his new position, Maglione is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Mental Health America and its Island House program. Island House is a day treatment program designed to empower citizens living with mental illness for whom recovery is a goal.

Within a safe, compassionate environment, clients learn healthy coping skills to recognize, reduce and manage symptoms that enable them to achieve their full potential, free from stigma and prejudice. Maglione’s new duties include census and fund development, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation, Medicaid compliance, and residential property management.

Carol Coppola has been named market executive for Regions Bank in Savannah, Ga., and coastal communities of South Carolina, including Beaufort, Bluffton, Ridgeland and Hilton Head.

As market executive, Coppola will work with colleagues and community members to identify opportunities for the bank to make a meaningful difference through volunteer service, nonprofit support, delivering financial education, and more.

Coppola will also serve as commercial relationship manager for Regions, helping deliver financial resources and guidance to businesses and employers across the area.

Coppola brings more than 20 years of Savannah-based commercial banking experience to her new role. Most recently, she worked as a commercial banker with Ameris Bank. Previously, she served in various commercial banking leadership positions for SunTrust Bank.

Her career has focused on supporting clients in the manufacturing, retail and service sectors, as well as government entities and nonprofit organizations.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Coppola holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with concentrations in international business and finance. Active in the Savannah community, Coppola is a graduate of Leadership Savannah and Leadership Southeast Georgia.
