The South Carolina Emergency Management Association (SCEMA) named Lt. Col. Neil Baxley the 2018 Director of the Year at its annual conference, held Feb. 21 in Myrtle Beach.
Baxley began his career with the Beaufort County Sheriff”s Office in 1983 and has risen through through the ranks to his current position as the director of its Emergency Management Division, a position to which he was appointed by Sheriff P.J. Tanner in October 2013.
Dana Wilson, R.N. has earned the designation of Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN), the only nationally accredited breast care certification available exclusively to registered nurses.
Wilson is the breast nurse navigator at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The designation is awarded by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation and recognizes significant knowledge in the specialty of breast care nursing.
Wilson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from McKendree University in Lebanon, Ill., and a Master’s in education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
A registered nurse with more than 20 years of experience, Wilson has a strong background in oncology case management and chemotherapy infusion.
Prior to joining the hospital’s Breast Health Center team, she worked as a chemotherapy infusion nurse with the hospital’s Chemotherapy & Infusion Services, as well as the Beaufort Memorial Medical Oncology practice.
- Lisa Dorobiala, Jillian Cook and Rebecca Conley, stylists at Paw-metto Pooches Pet Salon in Bluffton, recently attended the Atlanta Pet Fair, the largest grooming show on the East Coast.
The stylists attended seminars and each completed a five-hour PetTech CPR First Aid and Care certification course.

- Barbers of the Lowcountry will celebrate 20 years in business with a party at 5:30 p.m. April 26 at the shop, 17 Sherington Drive, Suite F, in Sheridan Park. The event is free and open to the public.
The party will include live music, refreshments and prize giveaways.
Lou and Brent Nelsen, a father and son team, opened the shop in December 1997. It is a modern barbershop with a vintage feel. The Nelsens also started a barber school for students to learn the trade, gain experience and become certified.

Chris Short has joined Covert Aire as residential accounts director. He will be focusing on the HVAC needs of long- and short-term rental management companies.
Originally from Louisiana, Short attended Louisiana State University. He has lived in Bluffton for the past eight years, working as a DJ for local radio stations and as a general manager in food service.
Short has been married to his wife, Deborah, for more than 18 years and they have four children.
