Peter Laugen has been named Head of School at Cross Schools in Bluffton. Laugen was selected from a pool of 33 competitive applicants.
He joins Cross Schools from The Woodlands Christian Academy, a college preparatory school of 625 students (PK-12), outside of Houston, Texas.
Laugen holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Education degree in administration. In addition to classroom experience, he has held administrative roles in Christian schools as a middle school principal, an interim superintendent, a secondary school principal, and a head of school.
Additionally, Laugen has 20 years of high school coaching experience and enjoys serving as a varsity sports announcer and school gala auctioneer.
Cross Schools was established in 1998 to serve a growing community which was then void of an independent grade school. Since then, the campus on Buckwalter Parkway has been expanded, and now educates more than 500 students in Preschool through 8th grade. The school will be welcoming its first 9th-grade class in 2020, with the addition of a full high school to follow.
Shellie West Hodges of Bluffton has contracted with South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company (SCFBMIC)to serve as an agent in the Beaufort office, located at 281 Parris Island Gateway.
Hodges graduated from Hilton Head High School on Hilton Head Island. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel, restaurant and tourism administration and a Master’s in hospitality management from the University of South Carolina.
Hodges is a member of the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, for which she previously served as CEO since its founding.

Scott Odom has opened a franchise of Germinator Mobile Sanitizing and Disinfecting, which offers door-to-door services for businesses and residents.
Odom has more than 13 years of business ownership experience.
Germinator uses new technology that is scientifically proven to help reduce the spread of harmful bacteria and viruses. Since February, the company has expanded to include 15 franchise locations across the country.
