It is generally believed in our country that chiropractic is meant only for people who suffer from neck pain, back pain, and motor vehicle accidents.
The majority of people in the U.S. do not know the effectiveness that chiropractic care has on children.
In fact, most people do not even know that children can receive chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care has been shown to help children with a variety of issues, and allows their bodies to function, heal and thrive naturally. As research in the chiropractic profession continues to grow, so does the amount of children under care.
Chiropractic has been shown by research to be effective for children suffering from the following issues: asthma, ear infections, bed wetting, colic, headaches, migraines, scoliosis, constipation, GERD, autism, cystic fibrosis, vertigo, ataxia, acid reflux, breastfeeding issues, allergies and much more.
Subluxations, or misalignments, in the spine, can be caused by a variety of issues. It is noted that stress, toxins and traumas lead to subluxations.
Some might ask what kind of traumatic events children have experienced in their short lifetimes. It is easy to forget the birthing process that a child must go through.
The birth process can cause the spine to misalign, which causes pressure to be applied to the spinal cord and spinal nerves, oftentimes resulting in irritation and interference.
When these nerves have interference, this causes the nerves to not be as effective in transmitting the messages that are being carried by them from the brain to every organ, cell, muscle, and tissue in the body. Research has shown that this may lead to a decrease in function.
Chiropractic is a non-invasive way to correct the misalignments in the spine, leading to optimal nerve function. The chiropractic adjustment to children is a very gentle and specific adjustment, with no rotation of the neck.
The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment to children and even adults is to remove interference to the nervous system.
This is important, as Gray’s Anatomy says, “the nervous system controls and coordinates all organs and structures of the human body.”
Given this statement, and the fact that the nervous system is the first thing to develop in a fetus, it is vitally important to make sure that children have a sound neurological foundation for their future development.
Healthy children grow into healthy adults!
