The Bluffton American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 205 and the Town of Bluffton will be working collaboratively on the construction of a Veterans’ Memorial in the Town of Bluffton.
The memorial will be erected within the Town Park being constructed in Buckwalter Place.
A gift brick program has begun that will allow individuals to purchase a brick in memory or in honor of a loved one. Donor bricks will be used in the walkways of the memorial.
The cost of each brick, with engraving, is $100.
Engraving is limited to 14 characters per line, with three-line maximum. Each letter, space and punctuation mark counts as a character.
Additional donations are also being accepted in any amount a person may feel comfortable.
Checks should be made payable to Bluffton Veterans’ Memorial and mailed to P.O. Box 1933, Bluffton SC 29910. All donations should be tax deductible as allowed by law.
The memorial will be dedicated to the men and women of the Armed Services who have diligently served our country and community with valor and self-sacrifice.
It is intended to be a peaceful respite for the community as well as visitors to our town – a place to pay tribute and give thanks to all the service men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice giving us all the right to live in a country that allows us the many freedoms we so enjoy.
The hope of the Veterans’ Memorial Committee and the Town of Bluffton is to have this as a place to visit, to reflect, to share experiences, and a place that all those coming after us will recognize that our message is and always will be to honor for all time those courageous men and women.
