Is the heat and humidity keeping you from hitting golf balls? If so, I have the perfect solution for you to still enjoy golf this summer.
Top Golf is the latest craze in the golf industry. Top Golf is a one-of-a-kind, 65,000-square-foot golf entertainment facility, with 55 locations worldwide.
The closest Top Golf facility to the Lowcountry is Jacksonville (150 miles away). There is another location in Myrtle Beach.
Jacksonville has 100 hitting bays that can be rented by the hour, with one to six people playing per bay. The bays are climate-controlled, so you can stay cool in this heat – and warm in the winter.
You can hit unlimited balls during your rental. You don’t have to bring your own clubs because they have clubs for juniors, women, men and left-handed players.
Top Golf is for everyone – new golfers, children, families, casual golfers as well as competitive golfers. Each facility has seven competitive games and advanced technology to track the accuracy and distance of each player’s shots.
Each golf ball has a microchip that measures where your golf ball goes for various games. Targets are colored red, yellow and green, each having concentric circles. The closer to the center of each target, the more points you earn.
However, there is no pressure to have a good golf swing or score a lot of points. It’s all about having fun.
The best time to visit the facility is on Tuesdays, when it’s half price all day.
The food is awesome with a varied menu. The menu in Jacksonville has 22 pages and can be viewed online. Each location has an accomplished executive chef. They advertise the restaurant as one of the best places to eat in Jacksonville.
You can eat at the hitting bays, with servers catering to your needs, or you can visit one of the many restaurants and lounges. The lounges have massive flat screens to view your favorite golf tournaments and sporting events.
Visit their website at topgolf.com. You can pick the location and reserve a day, time and bay for your group ahead of time. Most facilities open at 9 a.m. and close at either midnight weekdays or 2 a.m. on weekends.
