Registration is now open for fall golf and life skills classes with The First Tee of the Lowcountry. The eight-week session starts the week of Aug. 24.
Classes will be held at the First Tee campus on Hilton Head Island; Eagle’s Pointe, Pinecrest and Crescent golf clubs in Bluffton; Old Beaufort Golf Club in Beaufort; and Sgt. Jasper Golf Club in Hardeeville.
Safety precautions will be implemented, including daily oxygen level readings, daily temperature readings, regular sanitization of equipment and stations, social distancing, masks required for coaches and suggested for students. Bunker rakes have been removed, and cup liners have been installed upside down to eliminate need to touch the flagstick.
In addition to golf instruction, the classes emphasize First Tee’s Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment. Students will learn like skills such as making proper introductions, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, setting goals, planning for the future, and appreciating diversity.
Registration fee is $75; scholarships are available for those who qualify.
Students are encouraged to wear appropriate golf attire. Students do not need clubs to participate, but are encouraged to bring their own if they have them. Water and snacks are allowed if desired.
