Celebrate the visual, performing and culinary arts all weekend in Old Town Bluffton at the Spring Fling Arts Weekend, April 20-22.
The celebration begins with the Spring Art Walk from 4 to 7 p.m. April 20. Shops and galleries in Old Town will be open later than usual, and refreshments will be served at many of the establishments.
New artists and galleries will be introduced, including the most recent gallery to open in Old Town – the Ben Ham Gallery.
Enjoy an evening of art as music wafts through the night air in the Historic District.
Continue the celebration the next day with the Bluffton Old Town Paint Out from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21.
Artists are invited to break out their paintbrushes and sun hats for this fun plein air painting event. The entry fee is $20 in advance and $25 walk up. Registration forms are available at any of the Old Town art galleries or online at sobagallery.com. Register and pay in person at Four Corners Gallery, 1263 May River Road.
On event day, artists should gather at the tent on the corner of Calhoun and Lawrence streets between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
They will then go off to paint in various settings. This is when visitors can watch the artists at work outside, and follow the progress of a painting in the works.
At 4 p.m., artists and visitors will again gather at the tent for judging, viewing and awarding of cash prizes for the newly created art. Some of the works may be available for sale.
Complete the weekend on April 22 with the Art of Cuisine Stroll & Savor event. Beginning at 7 a.m., when the Corner Perk opens for coffee and breakfast, guests can stroll the Old Town area perusing nature, historic sites, and the shops, galleries and additional eateries as they open.
