Members of the Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association (HBA) joined together Dec. 18 at Oak Terrace at the Rose Hill Golf Club in Bluffton for their annual installation and awards luncheon.
The organization’s 2020 officers and directors were installed and awards were presented to the Builder and Associate Members of the Year, along with several other awards presented to active HBA participants.
The Associate of the Year and Builder of the Year honors are presented annually to individuals for their outstanding dedication and contributions to the HBA, the community and the building industry.
The 2019 Builder Member of the Year award was presented to Matt Bader of Full Circle Development.
Bader has been an active member of the HBA for more than 10 years, serving on its board of directors as a builder director and on executive committee as vice president of membership. He recruited more than 20 new members to the association in 2019 alone.
Bader is a two-time recipient of this accolade, having received the 2015 Builder Member of the Year honors.
The 2019 Associate Member of the Year was awarded to Brantley King of Billy Wood Appliance. King is the newest member to the HBA board of directors. After purchasing Billy Wood Appliance in 2016, she joined the board as an associate director in 2019.
King also serves as a committee member on the Hilton Head Home Builders Education Foundation Committee, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization administered by the HBA and formed to support and raise funds for continuing education throughout Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton Counties.
King was instrumental in the fundraising efforts that allowed 11 local recipients to receive $4,000 each in monetary funds to put towards their post-secondary education.
Several other awards were presented during the afternoon’s festivities. HBA Builder director and president-elect Brian Quinn of The Twelve Oaks Group was presented with the coveted President’s Award by 2019/2020 HBA President Dave Gaal in appreciation of his leadership and support to the board of directors during Gaal’s year as president.
Additionally, Carla Rohal of Cregger Company Inc. and Bill Fuge of Kinghorn Insurance Agency were both presented with HBA Hammer Awards. The Hammer Award recognizes extraordinary members who work behind the scenes, ensuring the success of association programs, events and community service projects. HBA photographer Rob Kaufman of Kaufman Photography and Education Foundation chair Melissa Brock of The Greenery Inc. were also presented with HBA Champion framed plaque awards in appreciation of their time and efforts volunteering for several events throughout the year.
Lisa Henry of BB&T Home Mortgage, now Truist Bank, was awarded with the Member Mentor of the Year award in the program’s second year in recognition of her efforts to build a more active and engaged HBA membership.
“This year’s honorees have truly distinguished themselves as leaders in upholding the association’s mission,” said Gaal. “They are the best of the best and it is an honor to work alongside them in their efforts to strengthen the building industry and our community.”
