Winn market

The artists at La Petite Gallerie were grateful to welcome faithful customers and the many new residents, visitors and art appreciators that have been in over the past year. Now, the artists are ready to ring in 2023 with fresh art on the walls and new pieces inside and out.

In addition to their petite gallery space (next door to The Store, in its historic building) at 56 Calhoun St. in Old Town Bluffton, art spills out into the charming garden area. On display are lots of fun outdoor glass and copper pieces, available to dress up anyone’s yard or garden spaces.

Headlining the garden art, gallery sculptor Wally Palmer is showcasing new multi-toned bronze and iron finishes on his Lowcountry relief sculptures.

The newest of the seven gallery artists, Sue Grilli’s lovely loose and free-flowing floral paintings are a wonderful addition to the gallery walls.

The other popular gallery artists are award-winning Bill Winn, who, with a classical style, masters many mediums and subjects flawlessly; Lauren Arsenault Terrett, known for her impressionistic marshes, florals and wonderful old local buildings; Rose Cofield – the abstract queen – with dynamic, colorful mixed media and collage paintings; Kristin Griffis, inspired by music in all her lively work; and Murray Sease, a painter of local scenes with bright colors and cheerful style.

The gallery also features several special consignment artists. The newest additions are ceramic artist Sheryl Winn, and jeweler Patricia Mothershead. Sheryl creates gorgeous pottery, often implementing local Spanish moss into intriguing patterns in her designs. Patricia’s unique jewelry pieces incorporate beautiful freshwater pearls, jade, oyster shells and other natural and found objects and stones.

All the gallery artists are looking forward to a busy and fun new year. New residents and old friends alike are invited to visit soon to meet the artists on duty – any day of the week.

Bluffton’s art scene is always hopping, and we can fill you in on whatever the next event in town might be. To start with, we are expecting crowds in the shops and galleries at the next Old Town Bluffton Art Walk on Feb. 10. Then, there will be a Flower and Art Show held in March, and a fabulous Spring Fling Weekend April 21-23.

Close out this year, or start the next, with a visit to La Petite Gallerie – and all the other downtown shops and galleries – for a fun, local shopping and browsing experience! For more information, visit lapetitegallerie.com.
