The Opera Lovers of Hilton Head will present a large-screen viewing of Verdi’s “La Traviata” at its next meeting, 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at The Seabrook, 300 Woodhaven Drive on Hilton Head Island.
The performance, on DVD, is open to the public.
Visitors may attend one session at no charge. Membership is $20 per year, or $30 per couple, and includes eight performances. Residents of the Seabrook are admitted at no charge.
The season will include: Nov. 13, “Samson and Delilah” by Saint Saens; Dec. 11, “L’Italian in Algeri” by Rossini; Jan. 8, “The Elixir of Love” by Donizetti; Feb. 12, “Thais” by Massenet; March 11, “Tasca” by Puccini; April 8, “Lucrezia Borgia” by Donizette; and May 13, “Immortal Beloved” (film) by Beethoven.

The club is intended to be low-key and casual, rather than stuffy. There are no opera experts in the group; only people who enjoy the experience of watching and learning about world-famous music and top opera singers in a casual setting.
The club, in its 20th year, meets on the second Wednesday of each month to view and enjoy a variety of performances, both from the group’s library and special purchased DVD’s.
