To the Editor:
UNITED WE STAND
How blest we are in every way
To be the land called USA.
‘Twas not by choice nor noble birth
That we call “home” this place on earth
And so we each must do our best
To see ourselves like all the rest.
No one is less, no one is more.
We’re equal all on this great shore.
How now we have this great divide
That finds our nation polarized?
We denigrate by word and deed,
Both left and right when not agreed.
Like structures built upon the sand
A house divided cannot stand.
No widow, orphan, indigent,
Should live outside our nation’s tent.
And so I pray we all begin
To make our nation kind again.
Let’s love the Lord above all else
And love our neighbors as ourselves.
