“Following through is the only thing that separates dreamers from people that accomplish great things.” – Gene Hayden

Soon it will be Jan. 1, 2017. For most people this is a time of self-reflection, a time to take inventory of our lives and perhaps focus on self-improvement.

One of the top New Year’s resolutions is to get physically fit, but have you ever considered getting “brain fit?”

Did you know that our lifestyles can make a difference in how our brains function? Want to find out more? Start 2017 by investing in yourself and register for Memory Fest on Jan. 12.

Memory Matters will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2017, and this event will kick it off with a bang.

For more than 10 years, Memory Matters has been proactive in promoting brain health by offering classes that teach simple tools for understanding how a healthy brain makes for a happy person.

Cathee Stegall has been with Memory Matters over 10 years. She is a gifted artist, a dementia care specialist certified by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, a natural teacher, and was instrumental in developing the Brain Boosters course.

Her presentations are informative and humorous, and her knowledge about the brain and how it works is phenomenal. She has presented our program to national and local organizations and is our resident expert on brain health.

Some of the points Stegall will discuss are:

  • How the brain learns and remembers
  • The brain and our emotions
  • Getting rid of Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs)
  • How to live in the moment

With up to 500 trillion synaptic connections, the brain is easily the most powerful machine in the world. Your brain is constantly changing through a process known as brain plasticity. You can take advantage of this process to improve and enhance your brain’s jaw-dropping powers – at any age.

Call today to make your reservation. Memory Fest will be held at Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 12. In addition to the presentation, there will be local vendors available that specialize in services that can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

In addition to the seminar, our Brain Boosters class begins on Jan. 26. Memory Matters offers this class three times a year. We are already taking reservations for the amazing 10-week program.

Whether you attend the seminar or sign up for Brain Boosters or both, you will be doing something positive for yourself, and that is the key to happiness.
