Palmetto Electric Cooperative will hold its Annual Meeting of members beginning at noon May 5 at Palmetto Electric’s Ridgeland office on Highway 278, three miles west of Ridgeland.
“The Annual Meeting is a wonderful opportunity for our members to enjoy a variety of family and children’s activities, learn more about Palmetto Electric’s marketing programs and services and participate in the business of their cooperative,” said Berl Davis, president and CEO of Palmetto Electric.
Registration begins at noon and ends promptly at 6 p.m. An auction of vehicles and office equipment also begins at noon.
The flea market will open at noon and remain open throughout the day.
Children’s entertainment includes a rock climbing wall, Cappy the Clown, and Palmetto Electric’s Linny the Lineman. Musical entertainment begins at 2 p.m. with Chris Jones, and the Headliners will perform at 4 p.m.
Everyone is invited to tour the marketing exhibit where representatives from Palmetto Electric’s Marketing Department will be on hand to answer questions.
The concession stand will sell hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments, along with Palmetto Electric’s WIRE bake sale offering home-baked goods, all beginning at noon.
Four directors will be elected, including two from Beaufort County, and one each from Hampton and Jasper Counties. Incumbent William J. Nimmer runs unopposed for Position 1, Beaufort County. For Beaufort County’s Position 4, incumbent David A. Solaro runs unopposed. Incumbent James O. Freeman runs unopposed for Position 1, Hampton County. Incumbent Eunice F. Spilliards runs unopposed for Position 1, Jasper County.
In addition, checks for Capital Credits assigned from 1997 and 2017 over $25 will be mailed the week of May 7 to members who register at the Annual Meeting. Capital Credits of $25 or less will be issued as an electric bill credit. Members not attending the May 5 meeting will receive their credits or checks in December.
Each registered member will receive a $15 credit on their electric bill and a Pro Glo Lighted Extension Cord.
Registered members also qualify to win one of several prizes to be given away that evening, including a flat screen television, an Instant Pot, a Fire HD 10 Tablet, or this year’s grand prize, a 2011 Ford Ranger.
Members must be present to win.
