Jan Ross, a beloved instructor at Art League Academy, will be showcasing her watercolor paintings at Art League Gallery Aug. 4-29.
Ross is known for her technique of layering pigment to produce vibrant, translucent colors; her work is bold, cheerful, and sometimes humorous, presenting people and places in a loving light.
Ross strives to capture the personality of a person, or draw attention to overlooked details in a landscape or ordinary objects.
A watercolor artist for over 30 years, Ross’s formal art training began at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. She has studied with some of America’s top watercolor painters. Eight different watercolor societies in the U.S. have awarded her Signature Membership, their highest credential for achievement in watercolors.
Ross also was named Member of Excellence, the highest award of the Atlanta Artists Center, the largest art organization in the Southeast. Her award-winning watercolors have been accepted in more than 500 local, regional, national and international juried competitions, as well as numerous one-woman and invitational exhibitions. Her work has been published extensively, and hangs in collections across the U.S and Europe.
Ross will host various live events during the month. More information is available at Art League of Hilton Head’s Facebook page.
