A veteran administrator has been appointed to serve as interim principal for H.E. McCracken Middle School in Bluffton.
Lindsey Skirtich, an assistant principal at May River High School since the school opened in 2016, will take over at H.E. McCracken during the search for a permanent principal who would begin work by the start of the 2019-20 academic year.
In a message on the school’s website, Skirtich said “I am very happy and humbled to be here to support you and your student(s).”
McCracken’s previous principal, Jerry Henderson, was assigned to a position at the district office in November.
Skirtich, who has lived in Bluffton for the past 14 years, is no stranger to H.E. McCracken, having served as an assistant principal there for four years from 2012 to 2016.
She previously taught English at McCracken and also at Bluffton High, where her peers honored her as the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2010.
Skirtich earned a Bachelor of Science degree in integrated language arts from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in educational leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
She is currently working toward an Education Specialist degree in educational leadership from The Citadel.
