An exciting and different kind of golf event will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Pinecrest Golf Club in Bluffton and it promises a lot of fun in the dark.

Welcome to Glow Golf.

Glow Vibe Golf, an event company that specializes in glow-in-the-dark golf, is setting up skill challenges for all levels of golfers. A point system is provided to use for each event, and a skills challenge card is provided to keep score.

The Club’s head professional Ernie Hanewinckel has put together a fun evening of golf, food and entertainment.

“I am very excited to have something new come to Pinecrest Golf Club. We look forward to the Bluffton and Hilton Head golf community coming and enjoying our golf facilities.”

There will be several divisions so everyone has a chance to win a prize. The events include:

Cosmic putting course – A crowd favorite, it consists of nine holes that glow in four different colors, containing a neon putting track with UV lights.

Flop wall – Hit lob wedges over the six-foot wall. The flop wall glows with UV light and flashing poles.

Corn hole chipping – Who needs bags to toss when you can chip golf balls at the holes in the boards?

Tick-tac-toe chipping – Chip the Velcro ball and cover your square.

Long drive competition – A neon grid will be set up on the range and you will get to drive the glow balls for distance.

Glass-breaking contest with irons – Targets will be set up at different distances, and points will be assigned for breaking the glass (not real glass). UV black lights on the targets will explode when they are hit.

Golf board races – Golf boards, similar to a skateboard, will be raced and timed.

Hole-in-one contest – A $5,000 prize for the first hole-in-one of the evening.

Not only will there be golf competitions, but the event also includes a special buffet dinner, happy-hour prices on drinks and entertainment by the local band Executrix.

Cost for the contests and meal is $40. If you want to participate only in the golf events, the cost is $25.
