11 Beaufort County fishing guides are reeling in praise this spring, having earned the coveted Angler’s Choice Award from FishingBooker, the world’s largest platform for booking fishing trips.
Beaufort County played a prominent role in SC’s strong showing, with 11 of the State’s 45 award-winning captains. Hilton Head Island alone is home to nine of the winners, with Bluffton and St. Helena Island contributing one each.

To qualify for the Angler’s Choice Award, captains must meet rigorous standards over the course of a year, including maintaining a 4.8+ out of 5-star average from at least 10 verified reviews, a 98% reliability and response rate, and full business verification.
Since 2015, FishingBooker has recognized outstanding fishing guides across the globe, with this year’s list spotlighting just 7.7% of the 8,732 captains on the platform. South Carolina, with 45 winners, ranked fifth nationwide by share of award-winning captains, with 16% of its 285 registered guides taking home the honor—more than double the national average.
