Czura readies sequel to his Lowcountry-based movie

Following the successful streaming debut of The Final Run on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango, and other major TV streaming platforms, Hilton Head Island businessman, producer, and screenwriter Walter Czura has announced that a more ambitious, action-driven sequel is now in development.

The completed sequel script, tentatively titled One More Run, expands the original film’s character-centered moral drama into a high-stakes thriller set once again in the waters and marshes surrounding Hilton Head Island and Beaufort.

To bring that expanded vision to life, Czura is hoping veteran Hollywood director Dennis Smith will steer the sequel. Smith is an Emmy-nominated television director and award-winning documentary cinematographer. He is a close friend of Czura and recently visited with Walter in Sea Pines. Smith is best known for his extensive work on TV crime dramas — particularly the NCIS franchise which has been running on CBS since 2003, as well as episodes of The Practice, and The Vampire Diaries, a supernatural teen-oriented series that ran for 8 seasons.

“Dennis has great experience directing fast-paced, suspense-driven storytelling,” said Czura. “He understands how to build tension and momentum while keeping characters grounded. That combination is exactly what this story now demands. The Final Run, which is still playing on streaming services across the US and globally, has earned praise from audiences for its emotional depth and authentic sense of place.

Viewers have described the film as “gripping and atmospheric,” while some critics noted they wanted more sustained action and heightened stakes — feedback which Czura has embraced as an opportunity to evolve the story.

“My first film was intentionally intimate and character-driven,” Czura said. “For the sequel, we’re widening the lens. The stakes are bigger. The danger is real. Pierce Butler’s world is about to collide with forces far darker than anything he’s faced before.”

Award-winning actor Jeff Fahey returns as former U.S. Marine and reluctant smuggler Pierce Butler, joined again by rising star Maddie Henderson as his granddaughter. The sequel will introduce an international terrorist operative determined to move components of a dirty bomb into the United States — using the same locally hidden waterways and backwoods estuaries which were once exploited for smuggling in the 1980s.

When CIA analysts uncover intelligence fragments pointing to the South Carolina coast, Butler and his granddaughter find themselves drawn into a deadly game of espionage, covert pursuit, and life-or-death decisions. What begins as “one last run” quickly becomes a race against time, with the maze of Lowcountry marsh channels serving as both sanctuary and combat zone.

“This new script honors the emotional foundation and family loyalty that resonated in the first film,” Czura said. “But this time, it delivers greater suspense, higher intensity, and significantly more action — all framed by the breathtaking beauty of our area.”

Production is targeted to begin in late spring 2026. Additional casting announcements and production details are expected to be released in the coming months. “The Final Run” is still available to view on TV streaming services.
