The Walmart Supercenter in Hardeeville marked the completion of storewide renovations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and $9,000 in grants to four local organizations.
The store, at 4400 U.S. Highway 278, held its re-grand opening July 31 following renovations that included transformed departments, updates to the Vision Center and pharmacy, a reconfigured layout, new signage and expanded space for online pickup and delivery.
The store awarded $3,500 to Jasper County, $2,500 to Second Helpings, $1,500 to MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and $1,500 to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Bill Miles, president and CEO of the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce; Hardeeville City Manager Josh Gruber; and Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with representatives of organizations receiving grants.
The event also recognized longtime Walmart employees. Ten employees were honored for more than 25 years of service: Barbara Exley, Barbie Fussell, Brenda Ainsworth, Deloris Sanders, Gloria Sanders, Gloria Willias, Jackie Johnson, Julie Baseback, Londa Nelson and Sarona White.
Patrick Treacy was recognized for more than 30 years of service, while Angie Hamilton was honored for more than 65 years.
Renovations included expanded aisles and new interior and exterior signage. The store also added digital features intended to help customers navigate aisles and access services, as well as updates to its Auto Care Center services.
Walmart said the Hardeeville renovation is one of 29 store remodels planned in South Carolina in 2026 and one of approximately 650 remodels across the United States.
