Second Helpings has named the Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation as its 2025 Supporter of the Year and Sam’s Club as its 2025 Food Donor of the Year, recognizing long-standing partners whose contributions have bolstered food rescue efforts across the South Carolina Lowcountry.

The Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation was selected as Supporter of the Year. The foundation has supported Second Helpings’ food rescue operations since 2017 and has contributed more than $160,000 to help expand and sustain the organization’s work. According to Second Helpings, that support has helped keep food rescue trucks operating, volunteers equipped and nutritious food moving to families in Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties.

“I am profoundly grateful for Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation’s steadfast support,” said Amy Colin, executive director of Second Helpings. “Their generosity has not only fueled our operations year after year, it has allowed us to say ‘yes’ more often — to more routes, more rescued food, and more neighbors who depend on us.”

The 2025 Food Donor of the Year honor was awarded to Sam’s Club, with special recognition given to store manager Justin Orr. Since 2017, Sam’s Club has donated more than 4 million pounds of food, making it one of the largest food donors in the organization’s history. Second Helpings said the consistent, high-volume donations have allowed volunteers to rescue fresh food that is then delivered to local food pantries and soup kitchens.

“We are deeply thankful for Sam’s Club and for the leadership of Store Manager Justin Orr,” Colin said. “More than 4 million pounds of donated food translates into countless meals and moments of relief for families who are struggling. Their partnership embodies what it means to care for the community you serve.”
