The Beaufort-Jasper YMCA of the Lowcountry has received a $7,500 grant to support licensing, equipment and supplies for its new James Fisher childcare location.

The grant, awarded through the Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund, is intended to help the YMCA expand access to affordable childcare.

“This generous support from Sparklight helps us create a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn and grow while giving parents peace of mind knowing their children are receiving quality care,” said Julie Kuhns, the YMCA’s director of development. “Together, we’re helping more families access affordable childcare so they can work and build brighter futures.”

The $7,500 award was part of a recent grant cycle in which Sparklight awarded more than $125,000 to 28 nonprofit organizations in communities the company serves.

The Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund supports programs involving education and digital literacy, hunger relief and community development. The company says it has awarded more than $1.3 million to more than 300 nonprofit organizations since the fund began in 2020.

Nonprofit organizations may apply for grants during application periods in the spring and fall. Applications for the fall 2026 cycle will be accepted Oct. 1-31.
