The power of choosing what we think

Posted

I think we can all agree that Divine Mind blesses us with the sacred gift of thought, a faculty within us by which you and I may consciously unite our awareness with the source of all wisdom and life, what we in Unity call God. We are living, feeling expressions of this infinite Divine Mind. We are vibrant conduits of Spirit, vessels through which the Divine expresses itself.

I affirm you are a unique, unrepeatable expression of God. Each time our thoughts are aligned with Spirit within, we draw ourselves closer to the fullness of our divine inheritance. Just as a mirror does, life reflects back whatever we project into it. When we cultivate faith, confidence and joyful thoughts, we plant seeds that blossom into blessings for ourselves and others.

The HeartMath Institute, through its heart coherence programs, shares, “You cannot be grateful and unhappy at the same time. It’s impossible for them to coexist.” The gift is that we get to choose which thoughts we focus on.

Why is transforming our thoughts such a challenge? The resistance to change is powerful, and yet conscious effort, though sometimes uncomfortable, is the pathway to renewal. Scripture tells us in Romans 12:2, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” For me, breakthroughs arise as I dare to think differently. As I allow myself to be inspired by Divine Mind, I am renewed.

Resistance to new ideas stems from comfort with what we know, and true inspiration requires the courage to step beyond the known into the field of possibility. I affirm we are all possibilitarians.

The power of thought shapes our lives. God is pure positivity. When we align our thoughts with the Divine, we allow the gifts of strength, wholeness and creativity to move freely through us. Equally, negative thinking and fear block these gifts, which in turn block our potential and cause self-created suffering. Yes, we are this powerful.

Each step we take toward inner transformation brings us closer to spiritual freedom. Happiness, success and health are shaped by the state of our minds. Through our thoughts, we either release or constrict the flow of divine life and intelligence.

These truths are profound. They are life-altering. Even the smallest idea sets creativity in motion, shaping our circumstances and experiences. Goodness is ever-present, like the warm sunlight pouring over us here in the Lowcountry. Can you see it? Do you feel it?

It is up to each of us to step out of self-imposed shadows, open ourselves to possibility and let your light shine. You have the power to govern your thoughts, knowing that God seeks to express through you, as you.

Make time for reflection, honor your intuition and walk by faith and trust, truly relying on Spirit’s timing. The thinker is always greater than the thoughts. Claim mastery over your mind, affirm your role as a unique expression of God and choose to think as Spirit would think through you.

Always and in all ways. Many blessings, beloveds.
