The Art League of Hilton Head will present “Finding Light,” an exhibition by local artist L. Robert Stanfield, from July 28 through Aug. 28 at Art League Gallery on Hilton Head Island.

The exhibition features abstract mixed-media paintings and sculptural works by Stanfield. According to the Art League, the collection explores themes of resilience, renewal and hope.
Stanfield said his work focuses on light, growth and human connection.

“My work is rooted in the search for light, growth, and human connection,” Stanfield said. “If a piece encourages someone to pause, reflect, or feel a sense of possibility, then it has fulfilled its purpose.”

Stanfield has lived on Hilton Head Island since 1999. He studied at Savannah College of Art and Design and has exhibited throughout the Lowcountry

According to the press release, Stanfield has worked extensively in arts education and has used creativity as a tool for growth and healing. His work is included in private collections and public spaces, including MD Anderson Cancer Center and MiraSol Health.

“Creating art is a powerful form of healing, impacting both mental and emotional well-being,” Stanfield said. “Viewing and experiencing art is also a source of healing.”

Art League Gallery is located inside the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

A reception with the artist is scheduled for July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Coffee Meet & Greet is planned for Aug. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
